If you’re planning a family day out in Surrey, then Godstone Farm is full of happy surprises – especially when it comes to our animals, activities and events! This week we’re celebrating the letter H and that means Highland cows, horses, happy faces and a little hint at Halloween later in the year.
Read on to find out more about Highland cows, horses, happy days and Halloween fun!
Highland cows
We’re really excited to welcome three beautiful new Highland cows to the Godstone Farm family! These stunning Scottish cattle arrived yesterday and have already settled in well in the field with Heidi and Hetty. With their stunning shaggy coats and iconic horns, they’ve certainly made an impression and we’re sure you can’t wait to meet them.
Did you know that Highland cows are one of the oldest registered cattle breeds in the world, known for their gentle nature and incredible hardiness. Their thick coats protect them from harsh weather and despite their fearsome horns, they’re actually naturally docile and friendly. Come and meet our new additions, you’ll find them happily grazing in the field next to the main animal barn.

Horses
Horses have been part of farm life for centuries and here at Godstone Farm our horses and ponies are a firm favourite with farm visitors of all ages. You’ll learn more learn more about these beautiful animals just by watching them and if you have any questions, just ask a member of the team, we love to share our knowledge and passion!
If you’ve been to the farm recently, you’ll know that we have horses and ponies in a variety of sizes, from Ollie, our handsome thoroughbred, down to little Pascha, our beautiful Shetland pony foal.
Did you know that horses have a memory almost as strong as an elephant’s and can even recognise human emotions? They’re also incredibly social and form close bonds with both people and other animals.
