A rainy Saturday morning in the South East of England may not sound very inspiring to some, but for those who braved the elements and visited Godstone Farm on Saturday 14th January 2023, it was an extremely exciting day! On arrival guests were treated to ‘rain and weather’ themed music to set the scene and get them in the zone for the eagerly anticipated attempt.
The team at Godstone Farm were on a mission to set a new World Record for the largest amount of people jumping in a pudddle at one time. This tied in perfectly with the farm’s splash-tastic theme for January – puddle jumping weekends.
Hundreds of children, with their accompanying adults, turned up at the farm, wellies afoot and in appropriate waterproof atire, awaiting the grand event. Enthusiastically the crowd gathered excitement with limbering up activities, led by Carina Cordina, Godstone Farm events co-ordinator, to get everyone ready and raring to go for the big splash.
Finally, it was time for the rain event! 248 enthusiastic jumpers hopped into the magnificent puddle for the countdown, can you imagine the magnificent splash created by that many people!
The fantastic news is that a new record was set and all who participated had a splash! Thank you so much for everyone who joined in – you smashed it!!
There is still the opportunity to join in with puddle jumping weekends at Godstone Farm on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd January and then again on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th January, with puddle jumping competitions and challenges and even the chance to have a go at welly throwing!
