Wow it’s only the 7th of May and it has been a busy month already, May is a lovely month isn’t it and a sign that hopefully summer is on its way, I think last weekend we endured rain, hail and snow – and of course some beautiful sunshine too. I definitely think we deserve some nice weather now don’t you?
We have recently heard the exciting news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have just welcomed a baby boy into the world. We will have an exciting announcement connected with this over the next few days so do make sure you are following us on our social media accounts. We welcomed our own baby Hazel to the farm on 30th April; she is the beautiful calf of Poppy and has proved a very popular addition with our visitors. If you haven’t seen her yet, you can see her in the main barn!
*UPDATE*
To celebrate the birth of the royal baby, we are giving free entrance to people lucky enough to be called Archie until Friday 24th May 2019. ID will be required and only the person named Archie will gain free admission, everybody else within the group will have to pay the full entrance price.
We were flooded with visitors to our pond dipping event over the bank holiday weekend, you really enjoyed catching creatures with your nets and then eagerly using the identification charts to discover what you had caught – you managed to find fish, tadpoles, water boatmen, snails and all sorts of other aquatic wildlife!
Over the weekend of 11th and 12th of May our talented gardener Mike is demonstrating how to plant the perfect hanging basket, so if you are not sure, or you would like your front door to be the envy of all your neighbours, do pop by to see how it’s done.
The wildlife theme continues again nearer the end of the month when we have our Wildlife Discovery Week during half term. Wildlife Discovery will run from Saturday 25th May until Sunday 2nd June and it is going to be AMAZING! We’re off on safari so grab your field notebook, binoculars and magnifying glass and join the big bug hunt! With mini beast handling throughout the day, the opportunity to make your own bird feeders, plus all the usual wholesome farm fun this is going to be a real adventure.
Now the weather is warmer our Top Shop is open during weekends and holidays (weather permitting) so why not refuel with a delicious ice cream, lolly or pizza and take a seat while the kids have fun in our outdoor adventure playground, the perfect place for young explorers. There is so much for them to do up there it will keep them happy for hours. Our ice cream shed is situated close to the Tea Room and also sells pizzas, sausage rolls, lollies and ice creams.
Have you visited the Tea Room lately? We have recently updated our counter display and increased our range of delicious cakes. Go on, treat yourself – you deserve it!
We hope to see you soon!
