Join us in welcoming handsome Ronnie to Godstone Farm – he’s an absolutely adorable miniature pig and you’ll find him in the main pig enclosures behind the Reptile House.
Ronnie (formerly named Ollie) belongs to a unique lineage of Miniature pig breeds pioneered by Rob Rose, who is considered by many to be the original breeder of miniature pigs in the UK during the 1970s and 1980s. Ronnie was born on 27th February 2020 to parents Romeo and Connie and was the only male in a litter of five. He was kept by the owners for breeding ‘therapy’ miniature piglets and was raised by them as a much loved family pet. Ronnie became a father to many wonderful piglets, most of whom are now working as therapy pigs. His offspring work in various settings, including specialist schools, private ventures, visitor attractions and private farms across the UK!
Ronnie’s a very special boy and we’re delighted that he’s come to live at Godstone Farm! Two of his babies – Miracle and Ella – became the UK’s first pigs to be commissioned and fully trained from birth for Britain’s Got Talent in 2022. You can watch Miracle and Ella on ITV’s The Pet Show (series 1, episode 7) which is presented by Dermot O’Leary and Joanna Page, this particular episode was originally aired on 12th December 2021.
If you speak to Ronnie gently, he may even come up to you for a head scratch – we’re sure you’ll be captivated by his friendly personality!
We’re really happy to welcome Ronnie to Godstone Farm and know he’ll be a very popular and much loved member of our animal family.
